Carolyn Spurling, PT
Provider at Lewiston Physical Therapy
I grew up in a myriad of states due to my father’s career and bounced back and forth between: CA, TX, PA, England and AK. I graduated from high school in Anchorage AK. Living there cemented my love for the outdoors. I started my college career at Baylor University, but it was too flat and humid. I headed west and graduated with my PT degree from California State University, Northridge in 1992. I married into the navy which resulted in more moving and a variety of work experiences: outpatient rehab, aquatic and orthopedic facilities in Maryland, home health care in San Diego, and an outpatient orthopedic clinic in North Carolina. I finally stopped moving when I arrived in LC valley in 2009. 16 moves, six years and counting, this is the longest I’ve lived in any single place.
I’ve been married to Greg for 23 years. We’ve been blessed with two wonderful children and one nutty chocolate lab. Heather is currently a junior at WSU and Justin is a junior at LHS.
I love to cook, garden, kayak, hike, fly fish, and play on the rivers with friends and family. I enjoy foraging for morels, blackberries and huckleberries. I still tent camp, but hope to upgrade to a trailer very soon. Fitness and nutrition are also an important part of my life. The older I get, the more I need yoga.
It’s a true gift to be able to live in this beautiful area with so many outdoor activities and few crowds.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching as a lab instructor at the LC campus for the Idaho Consortium for PTA education. I also enjoy practicing as a PT again. It’s very rewarding to guide some along a path that heals and restores function.
